Wairere Falls
Watch water cascading 153 metres over sharp rocks from the viewing platform at the base of the Wairere Falls, the highest waterfall in the North Island.
It is an attractive 90-minute walk along a well-maintained track. Small wooden bridges take you across the stream at several points, affording lovely views of little cascades and providing opportunities to cool tired feet in the refreshing water.
You need to be well prepared when tramping on conservation land, especially on the longer day walks. Ensure you have strong, comfortable boots, warm clothing, a good raincoat, first aid kit, food and drink, a hat and sunscreen.
Getting there:
Wairere Falls Track is on Goodwin Road off Te Aroha-Okauia road, south of Te Aroha.
