Lake Te Koutu and Outdoor Gym
Step into a 17.6 hectare park only minutes from the centre of Cambridge and relax surrounded by trees, many of them rarities planted by members of the local Trees Trust. There are seven walking tracks to choose from with differing levels of gradient and scenery. Then sit and share a picnic while watching the varied wildlife surrounding Te Koo Utu Lake.
If you’re looking for an opportunity to stretch your limbs further, try the purpose-built outdoor gym on the high ground near Thornton Rd. Sensitively screened from the road by tree coverage, it offers 7 machines aimed at building cardio, strength and stretching.
Getting there:
The main entrance and car parking is off Albert Street at the lower end of the domain. If starting at the top of the park, across the road from St Andrew’s Church, enter via the Memorial Gates, erected in 1911.
The gym is near the play park on Thornton Road.
