Waikato Cherry Tree Festival
Take a short drive to English Cherry Tree Manor in Tamahere to marvel at extensive gardens and cherry trees. Paul Oulton planted the trees along his country driveway with the aim of creating a beautiful aisle of trees, a plan which has taken a decade to come to fruition.
“We have a lot of people sneaking in to take photos with the cherry blossoms,” says Oulton, “The festival gives us the chance to welcome them properly.”
Cherry Blossom season is traditionally seen as a time to reflect not only on rebirth but on the beauty that can be had in fleeting things.
In addition to the Cherry blossom lane and gardens, you’ll be able to feed cows & alpacas, taste Zealong tea, view and try on Chinese clothing, enjoy face painting, gardening and bakery seminars (in English and Mandarin), stilt walkers and more.
